Maine Science Festival

The MSF is a 5-day event every March in Bangor, Maine! With events held in and around Downtown Bangor, it's our largest program we offer. All festival events are FREE and there's something for everyone - forums, panels, trivia, hands-on activities and exhibits.

At the Maine Science Festival, our quest is to help you understand the importance of science to our lives and to also discover what we know: Maine scientists and engineers are among the best in the world, and that science is everywhere.

National Scrollathon

Event at the Maine Science Festival

Saturday, March 22nd | 9am - 4pm

Meeting Rooms 3&4, Cross Insurance Center, 515 Main Street, Bangor

The Maine Discovery Museum is thrilled to host Steven and William Ladd’s National Scrollathon®! The Ladd brothers, renowned artists with work in major museums worldwide, bring their collaborative art project to Maine as part of the 10th Maine Science Festival.

Join us for one of four Scrollathon sessions, where you'll create your own fabric scroll to keep before contributing to a larger collaborative piece. This artwork will be permanently displayed at the museum, with a high-quality photograph featured in Washington, D.C., for America’s 250th birthday in 2026. Be part of this nationwide celebration of creativity and unity!

We will be running 4 sessions and highly recommend that you sign up to guarantee a spot.

There are 25 spots per session; sessions run at 9am, 11am, 1pm, and 3pm

You must check in/arrive five minutes before the session starts

or your spot will go to those on the wait-list

A night for 18+ to rediscover play!

Relive your younger years at MDM OR experience it again WITH your now-adult children! Recreate classic museum photos, enjoy an adult beverage (21+ ID required), indulge in art, and play.
